Tony Macri
(BScPT / FCAMT / CGIMS / MCPA)
Tony graduated from the University of Alberta’s Physical Therapy Department in 1998. He has extensive training in spinal and orthopaedic injuries by completing his Advanced Diploma in Manual and Manipulative Therapy in 2007. Tony is certified in Gunn Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), a dry needling technique for individuals with chronic pain and long standing musculoskeletal problems. He has also completed post-graduate training in Vestibular Rehabilitation for treating specific vertigo, dizziness and balance problems, along with courses for neck, shoulder, foot/ankle pathologies. Tony has a special interest in running, shoulder and neck injuries. He has been with Sport + Spinal Physical Therapy since 2006. Tony follows an active lifestyle, is an avid runner, enjoys mountain biking and the great outdoors.
Approach to treatment:
Tony’s treatment philosophy involves addressing the cause of symptoms using a combination of Manual Therapy and IMS to restore normal joint and tissue mobility and then applying specific Exercise Prescription to restore function and minimize injury reoccurrence. Based on his experience, Tony believes that working together as a team with his clients is the best way to obtain optimal health and recovery.
